I am an academic who is passionate about translating research into real-world impact. I co-founded Hmongdom, an innovative rural livelihoods development initiative, and also created www.diy-development.com. My areas of expertise include everyday politics, ethnicity and religion, international development and sociolinguistics in Vietnam and South East Asia.
Having obtained a PhD from University of Warwick’s Department of Politics and International Studies, I currently hold an Independent Scholar Fellowship funded by the Independent Social Research Foundation.
My MA (South East Asian Studies) and BA (Vietnamese and Development Studies) were completed at the School of Oriental and African Studies. I speak fluent Vietnamese and have professional experience interpreting, translating and tutoring as well as working in the International Development sector.
